Makkah has a respectable and special rank among the Muslims and occupies a matchless status among the other cities, villages and towns. It combines between the spiritual and the sensual positions; spiritually, it is stuck to the Muslims’ hearts. If the spiritual position and the related characteristics and excellences has been proved by the various Hadith of Allah’s Messenger’s (may peace be upon him) about Makkah, a scientific discovery has added another evidence proving that this spot has a special position among the other regions on the earth. By the way, Allah mentions in the Glorious Qur’an,“ And thus We have revealed to you (O Mohammed) a Qura’n in Arabic to warn the Mother of the Towns (Makkah) and all around it” (Surah Ash-Shura- 7). Here, Qur’an does not call Makkah the “Mother of the Towns” haphazardly; the scientific discoveries have proved the great miracle behind this name. We will show the story of the great discovery as mentioned by Dr. Mohamed Kamel Abdul-Azeem in his valuable book The Scientific Miracles In Qur’an and Sunnah.

In his book, Dr. Mohamed Kamel Abdul-Azeem talked about the scientific discovery announced by the scientists in 1977 affirming that Makkah Al-Mukarama is the center of the earth. This new truth has taken many years to be scientifically proved. The research done in this concern based upon a group of the mathematical matrixes and schemas the scientists developed by the computer.”
Dr. Kamel related the story of this strange discovery saying,
“ I started my research with a completely different target. I tried at first to develop a method helping any Muslim from any place around the world to determine the exact direction of Kebla. I found out from my many travels that the Muslims face this problem at the places free from the mosques. So, I thought over developing a new map covering the whole earth, helping any one to determine the right and exact direction of the Kebla. After laying out the preliminary lines on the first draft of the map, I suddenly found out this strange truth”.

The Egyptian scientist discovered that Makkah is the center of the earth. He put the dividers on the point of Makkah, turning it over the four corners of the earth. He discovered that the continents are located with the same distances from the point of Makkah. He retried the experiment once again, finding out the same result. On using an old map for the earth without the Australia and Americas continents, the same result appeared.
Dr. Kamel added saying,
“I started my research by developing a map showing the dimensions of the all continents on the earth against Makkah. Then I connected the equal longitudes for determining how to project the longitudes and latitudes against Makkah. I laid out the borders of the continents and the other details on this matrix. This matter required developing many complicated mathematical formula, using computer for determining the necessary distances and curves. Additionally, the research required special software for developing the accurate longitudes and latitudes. Accidentally, I found out that I could draw a circle whose center locates at the point of Makkah and the borders at the six continents. The diameter of the circle turns with the external borders of the continent”.


The Effect of this Truth on Muslims
Makkah, then, by Allah’s will, is the heart of the earth; a truth scientifically expressed within the scientists’ discovery proving that Makkah is the radioactive center of magnetism along side of an odd phenomena sensed by any one visiting Makkah for Hajj or Umra. In this experience, one feels naturally attracted to Makkah’ land, mountains and each corner within it; one hopes to be vanished in love with it. It is a natural sensation.

Like any other planet, the earth exchanges with the other planets a magnetic power emitting from within it. The source of this emission is located inside the center of the earth, and we can call this emission itself radiation. This source was discovered by an American topology scientist who did not carry out the research out of a religious motive. He performed a great activity using many maps, tools and equipments, discovering, unintentionally, that the center of the cosmetic radiation is located at Makkah. Here, the Allah’s wisdom about Makkah is revealed through his saying,“ And thus We have revealed to you (O Mohammed) a Qura’n in Arabic to warn the Mother of the Towns (Makkah) and all around it” (Surah Ash-Shura- 7).
