On 7/7/1424 A.H., the Islamic world fare-welled the contentment Imam and the noble scholar His Eminence Sheikh Abdurrahman Al-Furayan. The late (may Allah has mercy upon him) spent his whole life, 86 years, in spreading knowledge, giving charity, ordering good and prohibition of vice till he died after a sickness period.

Sheikh Al-Furayan was taught by his eminence sheikh Mohammad Bin Ibraheem Al Al-Sheikh, the general Mufti of the Saudi Kingdom and the first judge in that period, and he sticked to Al Al-Sheikh for a long time. When the Shar�a College was established in Riyadh he enrolled there to continue his Islamic studies.

He was known (may Allah has mercy on him) for his great efforts in spreading knowledge and calling to Allah, especially through ordering good and prohibition of vice to everyone regardless the claimed power of the others as long as his efforts were dedicated to Allah thus he was well known among the scholars by Imam of Contentment.

His eminence cared a lot about the Holy Quran, playing a great role in setting up the benevolent association for reciting the Holy Quran which includes hundreds of reciting circles and thousands of students. The association is not limited to Riyadh only but covers all the Kingdom regions and with an independent headquarter and staff for managing it. The qualified and skilful teachers were brought from Egypt and the other countries for it. A great number of Holy Quran reciting students were graduated from this association.

Moreover, Imam Sheikh Al-Furayan was well known for his care for the weak, the poor and the needy. He was used to checking their status and help them and bring their needs. Further, His eminence continued till his death in giving a number of lectures that were attended by the students from everywhere. And he was never late to response to the invitations of the religious lectures and guiding sermons. And he had participations in radio programs in addition to other different activities.

By his death, the knowledge students miss one of the prominent Fiqh and guidance Ulama, causing a new hit in the wall of knowledge, proving the Hadith of our Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: �Allah does not extract the knowledge from the slaves, but cause scholars to die, and when there is no scholar the people, then, they will assign the matters to ignorant people and when asked they will answer wrongly, thus, deviate and make others deviate (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

By this, a new wound is added to the body of the Islamic world. By the will of the Wise and the Most Knowledgeable and thank due to Allah on all situation.
Finally, who may consider and attend the other scholars\ lectures before it is too late and more ignorance is there? We ask Allah to have mercy on the Sheikh and to replace him for Islam nation and recover the catastrophep; the heart is full of sorrows and we are required to say what only pleases our God, "We are His slaves and we are referring (returning) to Him.
