The statistics has shown that the Muslims are the most growing religious sects in India, whereas the Hindus are decreased constantly.
According to a recent survey, “the number of Muslims has reached 138 million, representing about 13.4 % of the total number of the Indian population that amounted to 1.028 billion. Though the Hindus represent 80.5 % of the total population, their number is decreased, particularly between 1991 and 2001, the period in which the survey was done”.
The Indiana Express reported about the demography expert Ashish Pozy his saying that, “The Muslim population is rapidly growing because they do not use the family planning programs in addition to the high percentage of illiteracy among them”.
Telegraph newspaper pointed out that there are 24 million Christians, 19 million Sikhs, 7.9 million Buddhists and 4.2 million Manicheanists.
